Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. When I travel, I always come across someone on the opposite side of the world one of New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career in folk groups and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver discovered that it was destined to turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded within a couple of days of performing in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
